Early Childhood Education/Play Therapy

The My Therapy House® Early Childhood Educator is also a Play Therapist Trainee and works as part of the multi-disciplinary team. The Early Childhood Educator/Play Therapist Trainee with children using various play based approaches. Play is the language and work of children.
Children develop many skills through play including:
- social skills
- regulation strategies
- focus and attention
- pre-school readiness
- working through peer issues and friendships at school
- literacy skills
- pre-writing and writing skills
- activities of daily living including cooking, tasting, dressing, toileting, bathing, grooming
- self confidence
The Early Childhood Educator who is a trainee Play Therapist has an in-depth understanding of Early Childhood Intervention, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Global Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability, Anxiety and Disability. Through play, children become more aware of who they are, what they like, what they don’t like, what they are good at, what they can work on with support. At My Therapy House® play sessions involve sand play, craft, pretend play, water play, cooking, sensory play, story play, outdoor play, dress ups, making houses in safe, nurturing and creative environments.
