Speech Pathology

The Speech Pathologist is trained in various approaches and methodologies, including DIRFloortime®, Marte Meo and Hanen.

At My Therapy House® the Speech Pathologist works as part of the multi-disciplinary team to help families understand their child’s:

  • Intentionality
  • Comprehension skills
  • Communication development
  • Social skills
  • Emotional development
  • Relationships

The Speech Pathologist has an in-depth understanding of Early Childhood Intervention, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Global Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability, Anxiety and Disability. The Speech Pathologist works with parents to help them communicate with their child and facilitate their child’s comprehension and communication development. This is done in the context of parent-child relationships and parent-therapist relationships. The Speech Pathologist uses music, sensory motor play, pretend play and body games to facilitate the client’s understanding and expression of their wants and needs, emotions, likes and dislikes. Augmentative Communication is also used. The My Therapy House® Speech Pathologist works with other Speech Pathologists who may be focusing on articulation and fluency to optimise the best outcome for the client.
